CAROL ANN WEBER
Carol Ann Weber was born and raised in Fresno, California, the second generation of German/Russian immigrant farmers who settled in the fertile San Joaquin Valley. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Chapman College in Orange, California with a degree in World Religions and Music and a minor in English, she relocated to Los Angeles. Pursuing a childhood dream, she became a professional singer, traveling all over the country and in Europe with her own band. Then, after competing as a natural bodybuilder for two years, she decided to try her hand at writing for bodybuilding and fitness magazines.
In 1988, her very first story was purchased by a major bodybuilding publication, and since then, Carol Ann has been one of the busiest print journalists in the fitness industry. She has written and maintained several monthly columns in Muscular Development, Physical, Oxygen, Energy and Fitness Rx. Her story published in Muscular Development, “Muscle Beach Memoirs: A Return to Camelot,” is on file at the Smithsonian Institute as an historic resource document. Because of her interest in female athletes, she launched her own radio show, “SHE GOT GAME!” in July 1998 and single-handedly carved out her own media niche by creating, writing, producing and hosting a sports show devoted solely to women’s sports. SHE GOT GAME! was first broadcast on KMET AM 1490 in Banning, California (a 1,000-watt station) and then on KDWN AM 720 in Las Vegas, a 50,000-watt station covering 14 states, where it premiered on June 4, 2000 as an hour live show. Her guests included the biggest names in women’s sports: Billie Jean King, Gail Devers, Dot Richardson, Lisa Leslie, Cynthia Cooper, Pat Summitt, Mia St. John, Laila Ali, Rafer Johnson, Bob Arum, Anita DeFrantz, Mia Hamm, Stacy Dragila, Women’s Sports Foundation’s Executive Director, Donna Lopiano, Sports Illustrated’s Rick Reilly and USA Today’s Christine Brennan.
Her primary areas of expertise are professional athletes’ training and preparation for competition, and celebrities’ preparation for movie and television roles. She has published stories on athletes such as Shaquille O’Neal, Jamal Anderson, Olympic sprinter Maurice Greene, Olympic swimmer Dara Torres, and the women of the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks; boxing champions Riddick Bowe, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, and Roy Jones, Jr.; NFL teams the Atlanta Falcons and the San Diego Chargers; and celebrities including fitness icons Jack LaLanne and Billy Blanks, Lorenzo Lamas, Montel Williams, Demi Moore, Jessica Alba, Kim Bassinger, Jennifer Garner, Madonna, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jessica Simpson, Eva Longoria, Kathryn Heigl, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and Beyonce.
